Bluebeam Subscription Upgrade Guide
Bluebeam Help Guide
With the debut of Revu 21, Bluebeam has shifted to a subscription model and replaced previous versions. You can convert your perpetual licence (with Active Maintenance) users to a Bluebeam Complete subscription without paying for any subscription or licence cost.
*Perpetual Licence users without Active Maintenance must purchase a Revu 21 by paying a complete annual subscription for Bluebeam Basics, Core, or Complete.
This guide walks you through the step-by-step process of Bluebeam subscription upgrade by converting and upgrading your existing perpetual licences to the latest version of Bluebeam - Revu 21. Let’s discuss this in detail.
*The self-upgrade process is not for Bluebeam Open Licence (OL) users. If you use OL with an older version of Revu, connect with Brighter Graphics for the Bluebeam subscription upgrade.
Stage 1 - Upgrading to Revu 21 Subscription
Step 1 - Go to Bluebeam Store. Set your server region and currency of the transaction. Then, sign in with your existing Bluebeam ID and password.
Step 2 - Once signed in, navigate to the Perpetual Licences tab and locate your existing SN(s). Click the “Upgrade for Free” button to begin the upgrade process.
*As we have no perpetual licences, the Perpetual Licences tab is not showing any record.
Step 3 - Next, click the “Add to Card” button.
Step 4 - Then click “View Cart”. Don't worry about the currency total of the cart - it will remain 0.
Step 5 - In your cart, click “Checkout”.
Step 6 - Enter your contact information and click “Continue to Checkout”.
Step 7 - Read carefully and Agree to the Terms & Conditions, then select “Complete Order”.
Once done, you will receive two emails from Bluebeam to your email (BBID) in a moment. One email will confirm the upgrades were processed, and the other will ask you to ACCEPT INVITATION.
Stage 2 - Declare Yourself as Admin to Manage Subscriptions
Step 1 - Go to the second email, click ACCEPT INVITATION, and you will be directed to Bluebeam’s Org Admin Portal. Sign in with your BBID. When prompted, fill in any contact information needed and click FINALIZE.
Step 2 - Look for another email confirming the Bluebeam Admin Access in your inbox. Click GET STARTED.
Step 3 - Select your server region and sign in with the same BBID.
Congratulations, you can now access the Bluebeam Admin Access Portal.
Stage 3 - Inviting Your Users
Step 1 - After login into Org Admin Portal, select ACCOUNT, PRODUCT TIERS & USERS.
Step 2 - Under the ACCOUNT ADMINISTRATION section, use the ADD NEW SUBSCRIPTION USER feature to invite users using the same email verification process as we discussed above. Check out our step-by-step guide on accepting Org Admin Invitation for subscription seat allocation and sharing it with your users.
*Users can only access the new Revu 21 with all features and suits, including Bluebeam Studio and Cloud, once invited/accepted by the admin.
You can also decide on Revu 21 access for your new user as VIEW ONLY or COMPLETE. After setting up the admin, set your subscription to COMPLETE if you (Org Admin) will also use Bluebeam Revu 21. Otherwise, you cannot access all the market-leading features of your Revu 21 Complete subscription.

Subscription Upgrade - FAQs
-
I have a Bluebeam Open/Perpetual Licence (OL/PL) with Maintenance, what are the possible options to opt for?
Any existing Bluebeam user with Active Maintenance can opt for a Bluebeam subscription upgrade. The new subscription model of Bluebeam allows you to access a comprehensive suite of Bluebeam products, including Revu 21, Bluebeam Studio, and Cloud, for an entire year at no extra cost. However, if you're not ready for a transition, you can renew your current PL/OL contract and Maintenance for another year (with only an increase of 10% in Maintenance fees).
*Perpetual Licence users without Active Maintenance must purchase a Revu 21 by paying a complete annual subscription for Bluebeam Basics, Core, or Complete.
-
Am I eligible for a free transition from Bluebeam Revu 20 to Bluebeam Revu 21 Subscription?
*Eligibility criteria for free upgrade: Users having Bluebeam Open Licence/Bluebeam perpetual licence with Active Maintenance)
If you use Bluebeam Perpetual Licence without Active Maintenance, you must purchase a Bluebeam Revu subscription by paying a full annual subscription for Bluebeam Basics, Core, or Complete. But you can convert your Active Maintenance licences (OL/PL) to a Bluebeam Complete subscription without paying any subscription charges.
Switching to a Bluebeam subscription is highly recommended so you don't miss all the market-leading features of Revu 21. Please note that you will need to change to a subscription by mid-2023. After then, PL/OL will no longer be supported. Upgrade now and take your AEC workflows to new summits with Bluebeam Complete.

Can I switch to a Bluebeam subscription and keep using Revu 20, 2019, 2018, etc.?
You can use an older version of Revu—even after transitioning to a Bluebeam subscription—to minimise disruption on your active projects. But we recommend moving your team to the next major version of Bluebeam (Revu 21) as soon as possible so you can leverage the latest functionality, Bluebeam Cloud solutions, and all the services included in the subscription. If you have Revu 20, you’ll continue to get updates/patches Bluebeam will release to address critical bugs, but no new functionality will be released.
*You can install Revu 21 side-by-side without uninstalling the older Revu version. It will allow you to continue using existing Revu licences for some users.
If you have Revu 2019 or an earlier version, visit our Bluebeam End of Life (EOL) page.

I’m not ready to move to a Bluebeam subscription. Can I still use my current Bluebeam Perpetual or Open Licence?
After mid-2023, renewals for Bluebeam Perpetual or Open Licences will no longer be available, and subscription will be the only option. Bluebeam can no longer support legacy versions, so if you're using Revu 2019 or earlier, support will end on March 21, 2023.
It's important to note that if you choose not to move to a Bluebeam subscription, you won't have access to the latest version of Revu (Revu 21), Bluebeam Studio, and Cloud, or any of the services included in the Bluebeam subscription packages.

I have Maintenance/OL now. What will happen after the first year if I transition to a subscription? Will there be price increases?
When you switch to a Bluebeam Revu subscription, you will receive a discount for the 1st year. However, in year 2, the discounted Bluebeam licence price for subscription will only apply to your original transient licences/seats. Any new subscriptions added in year 2 will be at the regular Bluebeam licence cost, so there's no financial advantage to downgrading to Basics or Core.
While the pricing for transient seats remains, subscription pricing is based on what you paid the year before. So, if you want to continue leveraging the discounted price, stick with your current subscription package (Bluebeam Complete). How do Bluebeam subscriptions differ from previous Revu editions?
Revu will no longer be available via the editions (Standard, CAD, eXtreme) Bluebeam was offering previously. To compare Revu 20 and Revu 21, check out the detailed Revu Features Comparison page.

In terms of Revu functionality, is Revu Complete similar to Revu eXtreme?
Our most comprehensive subscription plan, Complete, gives you full access to the functionality you’re familiar with in Revu eXtreme. Additionally, it comes with Bluebeam Cloud to help you extend your work into the field on the web and mobile.
