General Questions
-
Why is Bluebeam retiring Revu 2019 & below?
Bluebeam is investing in new infrastructure and technology to deliver a better experience for our users. As we shift development efforts and investments towards this future vision, we can no longer support or guarantee the integrity of older legacy versions, especially when they rely on third-party components that are no longer supported by their makers.
-
Why is Bluebeam announcing EOS, but waiting at least 12 months for the official EOL date?
It is common practice to enforce End of Sale before End of Life, and Bluebeam wants to ensure it can fulfill its obligations under active agreements including fulfillment of maintenance and warranties.
-
Why did Bluebeam change the EOL date from March 21 to June 28?
Our engineering team found a way to extend some of our technology and give our users three more months to transition to our newer products. However, we are reaching constraints on these older platforms that will not allow us to move this date again.
After June 28, 2023 certain licensing components used in Revu 2019 & below are no longer supported by their makers; as a result, we can no longer support these older versions.
-
How can I upgrade to a current version of Revu?

Revu 2019 & Below Questions
-
Will Bluebeam continue to support Revu 20?
Yes, we’ll continue to support Revu 20. If/when Revu 20 becomes part of our EOL program, we’ll communicate it in advance (at least 12 months before EOL), so customers have time to plan.
-
How do I know what version of Revu I’m using?
To learn how to check your version of Revu, please see this article.
-
Should I migrate to Revu 20 or Revu 21?

Can I add more seats to my current license of Revu 2019 or below?
No, Revu 2019 & below are officially End of Sale (EOS) as of March 22, 2022.
-
Can I still purchase older versions of Revu after EOS?
No. After March 22, 2022 the only option will be to upgrade to a supported version of Revu.
For more information about supported products/versions and support tiers, please see this article.
-
If I need to upgrade, how do I find out if Revu 21 will support my current operating system?
Please see Revu 21 Compatibility & System Requirements for more information.
-
We use an older version of third-party software (e.g. Windows, AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks) that isn’t compatible with Revu 21, so I need the older version of Revu.
We recommend that you upgrade to compatible versions of all software packages to ensure your workflows are fully supported. However, if you choose to stay with an older version of Revu that is compatible with older software you are running, please keep in mind that after the EOL date (June 28, 2023), you’ll no longer have the ability to manage your license, and you’ll lose access to Studio.
-
If I choose to not upgrade, will I still be able to use Revu 2019 or below?
Beyond the EOL date (June 28, 2023), legacy versions of Revu that use a Perpetual or Enterprise license may still work, but Bluebeam cannot guarantee they will function without issue. Technical support and access to Studio functionality will no longer be available for those versions.
-
I work at a large company. How can I determine who the admin/owner is for my Revu license?
We suggest you contact your IT department since they are most likely the owner of your software license.
-
Is Revu for iPad affected by this?
No, Revu for iPad isn’t impacted.
-
I’m used to the classic UI provided by older versions of Revu. How can I learn more about the latest user interface?
Although the UI changed quite a bit with Revu 2018, our users have found that after a little bit of adjustment, they actually find the updated interface easier to navigate with faster workflows due to less clicks and more real estate for their documents. If you need help adjusting to the new UI, Revu 20 & above contain several helpful tutorials within the app, and our support site also contains helpful articles to assist with your transition:
Studio Questions
-
Is Studio functionality going to be discontinued?
No, it’s not. In fact, Bluebeam is investing in an updated, state-of-the-art platform for Studio, which will provide a much more reliable environment for our users. Unfortunately, the original platform that has faithfully served our Studio users in the past can’t continue to grow while also providing the reliability and functionality that will work most effectively for our users in the future. As such, the Studio platform will be modernized and updated. This upgraded platform will be integrated into Revu 20, Revu 21, and future releases.
-
Does this affect all Studio servers in all regions?
Yes.
-
Is Studio Prime or Studio Enterprise affected by this?
Support for Studio Prime will not be impacted by this schedule, but a version of Revu 20 or above will be required to access Studio through Revu after June 28, 2023.
Studio Enterprise users on Revu 2019 & below won’t lose Studio functionality since they aren’t accessing our cloud-based Studio servers. However, to ensure seamless operation and continue being supported, we recommend upgrading to Revu 21 or Revu 20.
The ability to register/re-register these licenses may continue to work, but we cannot guarantee it after June 28, 2023 due to third-party dependencies and the unsupported nature of these retired versions.
-
If I don’t upgrade to a supported version of Revu, what will happen to my Studio Sessions/Projects after the EOL date?
All Studio data will be treated according to our current data retention policies. After 180 days of inactivity, a Session will be permanently deleted from Bluebeam servers. At any point before that final purge, you may log into Studio using a supported version of Revu and download any files you have stored there.
Studio Projects are never marked for archival or deletion and can only be deleted by the Project owner or a user with Full Control permissions. If a Studio Project is deleted by the Project owner, it will remain recoverable for up to 120 days. After 120 days, the Project is permanently deleted from the server.
-
What is the path forward for a user of Vu 2017 or below?
Studio collaborators without a Revu license can get the Vu functionality to access Sessions or Projects by downloading Revu 20 and running the program in View Mode. For more information, please see View mode vs Markup mode.
